This is a good discussion on the differences between the two. It was on the message board for the movie "Luther" with Joseph Fiennes. It is worth a rental if you have a free night.
Luther was my first rental on this go-round with netflix. It was almost surprisingly good, especially given that I had already heard good things about it. Normally that means my expectations get too high and I end up not liking a movie, or not being too excited about it at the least.
